StandBy Support After Suicide

StandBy is dedicated to supporting people and communities across Australia bereaved or impacted by suicide, by providing a coordinated response of support and assistance and a single point of contact to assist in coordinating existing services to provide a response.

We can help with:

  • Understanding and responding to your needs
  • Contactable 24/7 to arrange face to face or telephone support
  • Locally tailored community workshops
  • Information and referral to other local organisations

People can receive face-to-face support provided by skilled StandBy Crisis Team members, and referral to a centrally coordinated system of local support services matched to their needs.


Who can access StandBy and when

  • People in the Canberra area bereaved and/or impacted by a suicide in this region
  • People in the Canberra area bereaved and/or impacted by a suicide that occurred somewhere else
  • Non local people bereaved by a suicide that occurred in the Canberra area

There is no time limit on when you can access the service. The suicide may have occurred months or even years ago.

Cost

StandBy is provided free to people bereaved or impacted by suicide, and is an Australia Government Initiative. It also receives community support and donations and welcomes support from local groups and businesses.
