Nicci Blount from Post & Ante Natal Depression Support & Information Inc (PANDSI) shared with us a beautiful poem she wrote while she herself was suffering from post natal depression:

Watching Me

Nicci Blount from PANDSII feel nothing but emptiness
It's like my emotions have died
And even though I'm feeling nothing
The pain is killing me inside.

Icebox smile and grating laugh
I watch the way I cry
No one else can look inside
At what you cannot see

Burdens too big to carry
Tears too many to fall
Bricks too strong and built too high
To break my see through wall

Watching hollow faces
Busily being alone
Looking through the outside in
Dancing on my own

My grey world is darkening
I am choking on the black
My chains don't stop me from running away
But they always drag me back

All the time I'm watching
I watch the way I cry
I hear my mocking laughter
As I watch me slowly die.

Nicci Blount
